Ship provisions

Provision Supply for Vessels

Baltona Shipchandlers supplies fresh, frozen and dry provisions to vessels, including commercial ships, passenger ferries and cruise vessels calling at ports in Poland and selected European ports.

We support shipowners, operators, ship and fleet managers, agents, captains and purchasing teams with food supplies required for day-to-day crew catering and scheduled port calls.

A provision order can include several product groups in one request, helping reduce the number of separate suppliers that need to be coordinated during a vessel’s stay in port.

Ship provisions prepared for delivery to a vessel

Ship provisions supply – what can we deliver?

Our ship provisions supply covers fresh, frozen, chilled and dry food products required for everyday crew catering and galley operations.

The final scope depends on the vessel, crew requirements, quantities, delivery location and timing. A single provision request can include several product groups prepared for one coordinated delivery.

Fresh fruit and vegetables

We supply fresh fruit, vegetables and other produce selected for onboard use and delivered according to the requirements of the order.

Meat and fish

Provision orders can include fresh and frozen meat, fish and related products required for daily galley operations.

Frozen provisions

We supply frozen food products stored and transported under temperature-controlled conditions appropriate for the product category.

Dry provisions

Our range includes rice, pasta, cereals, flour, dry ingredients and other long-life provisions commonly required on board.

Canned and long-life products

We supply canned goods and shelf-stable products suitable for longer storage periods during vessel operations.

Dairy and chilled products

Provision requests can include milk, cheese, yoghurt and other chilled products handled according to their storage requirements.

Beverages

We supply juices, soft drinks and other non-alcoholic beverages as part of vessel provisioning orders.

Galley and everyday food supplies

Orders can also include everyday products required for meal preparation and regular galley operations during the voyage.

Products for multinational crews

We can prepare provision orders that take different dietary preferences and the requirements of multinational crews into account.

Special provision requests

If a required product is not included in the standard range, we can verify its availability based on the specification provided with the request.

How do you order provisions for a vessel?

To order provisions for a vessel, send us a provision list together with the required quantities and the information needed to prepare the quotation and plan the delivery.

The more complete the request, the easier it is to confirm the product range, prepare a quote and coordinate the supply with the vessel’s port call.

Send your provision list

Include the required products, quantities and any relevant dietary, brand or product specifications available to the purchasing team.

Provide vessel, port and ETA

Include the vessel name, delivery port, ETA and required delivery date or time so that the order can be coordinated correctly.

We prepare the quote and coordinate delivery

Based on the information provided, we verify the scope of the order, prepare the quotation and coordinate delivery to the vessel.

Cold-chain storage and transport for ship provisions

Fresh, chilled and frozen provisions require appropriate storage and transport conditions from the warehouse to the vessel.

Our provisioning operation is supported by approximately 3,500 m² of warehouse space, including refrigerated and frozen storage facilities, as well as a fleet of more than 20 vehicles adapted to transport goods with different temperature requirements.

This infrastructure allows us to handle mixed provision orders that include ambient, chilled and frozen products within the same supply process.

What information helps us prepare a provision quote?

To prepare a provision quote, we need the provision list, quantities, vessel name, delivery port, ETA or required delivery date, and any relevant dietary or product specifications.

Food safety and quality standards

Food safety is an essential part of ship provisioning because orders may include fresh, chilled, frozen and long-life products with different handling and storage requirements.

Baltona Shipchandlers holds ISO 9001:2015 and HACCP certifications, supporting controlled quality and food-safety processes across our provisioning operations.

Refrigerated and frozen storage facilities, together with temperature-controlled transport, help maintain the conditions required for products that depend on an uninterrupted cold chain.

More information about hygiene and food safety in vessel provisioning is available in our guide to food safety standards in ship supply.

Provision supply for multinational crews

Provision supply for multinational crews may require different food categories, dietary preferences and product specifications to be included in the same order.

We can prepare orders that combine fresh, frozen, dry and chilled provisions so that purchasing teams can source several food categories within one coordinated delivery.

Where specific dietary or product requirements apply, they should be included directly in the provision list or enquiry.

Combine provisions with other ship supplies

A vessel may require more than food supplies during the same port call. Combining several supply categories can reduce the number of separate orders and simplify coordination between the vessel, agent and suppliers.

Alongside provisions, Baltona Shipchandlers also supplies technical equipment for ships and duty free products for vessels.

When several categories are required, they can be included in the initial enquiry so that the scope of the supply can be reviewed together.

Ship provision deliveries to ports in Poland and Europe

We deliver ship provisions to ports in Poland and selected European ports, coordinating the supply with the vessel’s port call and required delivery time.

Our coverage includes key ports in the Baltic and North Sea regions as well as selected ports in other parts of Europe.

The current list of locations is available on our ports served by Baltona page.

For a port-specific enquiry, include the vessel name, port, ETA and required delivery date or time from the beginning so that we can verify the appropriate supply arrangement.
